Purpose Statement
The job of SEI District Teacher is done for the purpose/s of providing state-required Targeted English Language Development (ELD) instruction to English Learner students in accordance with Arizona's Structured English Immersion (SEI) Model; accelerating English language acquisition and academic achievement; providing students with equitable access to grade-level content; collaborating with school staG to strengthen implementation of eGective English Learner instructional practices; supporting teachers through instructional modeling, collaborative planning, coaching, and professional learning related to Targeted ELD instruction; and monitoring student progress to improve instructional outcomes. 

 

Essential Functions

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Arizona English Language Proficiency Standards; Arizona Structured English Immersion Models; eGective instructional strategies for English Learners; language acquisition theory; diGerentiated instruction; curriculum development; assessment practices; classroom management; and applicable state and federal laws governing English Learner education.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and delivering standards-based instruction; analyzing student assessment data; developing instructional materials; providing professional development; modeling eGective instructional practices; integrating technology into instruction; maintaining accurate records; and communicating eGectively with students, staG, parents, and administrators.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing a variety of complex processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of widely varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing positive working relationships; maintaining confidentiality; communicating eGectively orally and in writing; demonstrating cultural responsiveness; organizing multiple priorities; working independently; supporting continuous improvement of instructional practices; and traveling between district-assigned school sites.

 

Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s services.

 

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

 

Experience: Job related experience within specialized field is required in SEI teaching field with 3 years of experience.

Education: Bachelors degree in job related area

Certificates/Licenses: ADE Teaching Certificate, Structured English Immersion (SEI) Endorsement required and Valid Arizona Driver License required.

Clearances: Criminal Background Check, MMR Clearance, IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
