SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT: Elementary School
TYPE: Certified STATUS: Exempt SALARY LEVEL: ($88,464 DOE, up to 5 years experience, full health benefits package)
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
DEFINITION: Under limited supervision, assists the administration, leadership in the supervision of Elementary School facilities, programs and activities for the Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Assists in providing leadership to assigned Elementary School staff and guidance to student population; represents the District to parents to interpret and enforce policies and procedures and to respond to inquiries or complaints; interprets and enforces policies and procedures relating to student behavior; enforces rules utilizing student handbook of District rules, policies, and procedures; meets with students to determine and prescribe disciplinary action; conducts parent conferences relating to student discipline and educational needs.
Assesses educational delivery of curriculum by certified staff; conducts formal evaluations of assigned staff; assists with budgetary decisions, tracking of funds and approval of requisitions; assists with medical or emergency incidents; provides coverage in the classroom, library or playground or at extracurricular activities and events; acts as Elementary School Principal during times of absence; performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of federal, state and District laws, rules and regulations related to the operation of public schools and personnel.
Knowledge of curriculum development and delivery techniques for elementary school populations.
Knowledge of student discipline regulations, guidelines and techniques.
Knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, practices and procedures.
Skill in developing long and short term strategic plans, goals and objectives for a public elementary school.
Skill in delegating, coaching, assigning and reviewing work performance.
Skill in oral and written communications.
Skill in building effective teams, conflict resolution, and must maintain effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment. Work requires occasional standing, walking and bending, working extended hours for meetings and school activities, and some travel is required to complete work functions. May be exposed to moving traffic, extreme weather conditions, and infectious diseases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate Degree in school administration and three (3) years teaching experience in an elementary school environment. Must obtain an Arizona School Administrator/Principal Certification. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
