REPORTS TO: Director of Financial Services/ Director of ESS
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Financial Services, the Medicaid Program Specialist ensures the successful operations of the District's Medicaid program, ensuring all compliance requirements are met and ensuring the district is maximizing the Medicaid program potential for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS INCLUDE:
Develops and maintains records and data necessary to ensure compliance and program requirements of the District's Medicaid program are met.
Ensures compliance with legal, financial and District requirements.
Compiles data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of analyzing issues and ensuring organization compliance.
Develops policies and procedures regarding the Medicaid program and verified Medicaid Program eligibility status.
Coordinates, conducts, and participates in training events, seminars, continuing education, and certification or renewal sessions as required to assist staff in performing Medicaid approved health and behavioral outreach activities.
Prepares and maintains electronic files and/or records (audit reporting, compliance training, etc) for the purpose of documenting activities and issues, meeting compliance requirements, providing audit references, making presentations and/or providing supporting materials for requested actions.
Researches a wide variety of information (program requirements, compliance updates, training, etc) for the purpose of ensuring program compliance, securing general information and /or responding to requests; Responsible to ensure that program updates, changes, and compliance factors are current and aligned with State and Federal regulations.
Responds to inquiries for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information, and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
Works with staff to ensure that required data and information is properly collected and maintained.
Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge of district and medicaid policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Some positions may require bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Over two years of office or clerical experience which includes the use of spreadsheet software, experience working with student records or technical reports. Experience working with Microsoft Office products
Strong interpersonal (verbal/written, and presentation skills), organizational, negotiation skills, with the ability to work and build rapport with all levels are necessary to perform the job at the expected level. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
