REPORTS TO: Director of Exceptional Student Services
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provides administrative support for the Exceptional Student Services Department, and monitors and maintains student records in compliance with regulations for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Inputs exceptional student information into appropriate databases. Reviews and inputs individual education plans (IEP) for special education students. Coordinates conference schedules utilizing information from all sources, and school, teacher and parent schedules. Coordinates schedule changes as needed. Performs data entry, parent contact and notification to staff for testing purposes for gifted students. Gather information for the referral process. Documents child screenings, student study meetings, referrals and parent interviews. Coordinates information with psychologist and therapist. Notifies staff involved in student evaluation using appropriate documentation. Provides teachers with protocol information. Translates documents from English to Spanish, including progress reports. Interprets at IEP meetings for parents as needed. Answers questions and provides information by telephone and in person. Composes letters in English and Spanish. Completes requisitions. Process work orders as needed. Tracks paperwork compliance related to IEP and MET reports for teachers, psychologists and therapists. Documents contacts with parents. Establishes and maintains a filing system for special education and gifted student files. Process student enrollments and withdrawals. Gather student census information and related data. Prepares Federal, State and other required reports. Performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion and vision to monitor. Some positions may require bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years secretarial and/or administrative support experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
