REPORTS TO: Grounds/Custodial Supervisor
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to facilities maintenance, mail and records management, and custodial duties for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Delivers inner-school mail and packages across the district. Ensures timely and accurate distribution of mail between schools and departments. Maintains and organizes district retention records, ensuring compliance with record-keeping regulations. Assists with archiving and filing systems as needed. Manages copier paper supplies, monitors supply levels, and orders copier paper to have inventory available for the district. Receives and deliveries orders for the district office and complex, verifying accuracy and condition of shipments. Organize and distribute supplies to district locations.
Perform custodial duties for the district office, including cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance of common areas. Support custodial needs in other district buildings as assigned. Ensure buildings remain safe and clean for staff, students, and visitors. Performs repair and maintenance of various systems. Repairs and paints School District buildings and facilities.
Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, and air filters. Performs carpentry to install and repair cabinets and bookshelves. Maintains, repairs or replaces light fixtures, receptacles, outlets, exit signs, breakers, controls, relays, Marquees, kitchen equipment, energy management system controllers, smoke detectors and alarm panels. Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for events and activities. Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of custodian and grounds maintenance practices, procedures and techniques.
Knowledge of machinery, equipment and tools necessary for the maintenance of public school buildings and grounds.
Knowledge of minor maintenance and repair techniques.
Knowledge of proper safety precautions for chemicals and cleaning supplies used in grounds and custodial work.
Knowledge of general clerical and record-keeping techniques.
Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software.
Skill in installing, maintaining and repairing public school facilities, buildings and grounds.
Skill in safely using, maintaining and repairing equipment and tools to complete assigned projects.
Skill in cleaning and maintaining school sites, facilities and grounds.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in working cooperatively with others.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work requires frequent standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to moving equipment, extreme weather conditions, heights, toxic fumes and chemicals and infectious diseases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Three (3) years custodial experience, building maintenance and/or trades experience. Must possess an Arizona driver license. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
