REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, processes and maintains personnel records and reports for Somerton
School District #11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
In support of the Human Resource Department, inputs data, runs reports, posts vacancy announcements, sets up
Personnel files, and performs background checks. Also hires and maintains a list of Substitute Teachers and assists applicants with the Arizona Department of Education certification process. Performs a variety of personnel-related activities; conducts exit interviews; and makes travel arrangements.
Create employment packets for newly hired candidates, initiates and processes new hire final clearance, and
assembles associated documentation and sends offer letters; processes contract and salary growth riders, assists with employment screenings, and conducts new employee orientations; submits completed new employee benefit elections to vendors, processes, and reconciles monthly health and voluntary insurance billings.
This position initiates, develops, and coordinates the implementation of recruitment and retention strategies;
coordinates and supports activities promoting the recruitment, adherence and retention, including the development of
strategies appropriate for the recruitment; may lead staff engaged in recruiting efforts, as assigned; Consistently
exercises sound judgment and discretion writing recruitment and adherence materials; Assists in training staff and/or
volunteers in recruitment activities; Ensures that appropriate selection criteria are established for each open position.
Develops ongoing effective relationships that will result in increased applicant flow. Identifies potential sources for
recruiting staff, such as through job fairs, associations, community organizations, advocacy groups, government
agencies, military transition centers, vocational/ technical schools, colleges and universities. Determines effective
media campaigns, with guidance from departments, such as advertising, posters, flyers, etc.
Organizes, establishes and maintains record keeping systems for correspondence, documents, material or records
for function; records or logs incoming information and follows up on incomplete or missing information; coordinates
and assembles information from a variety of sources and distributes; completes personnel action requests as needed; and performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

Knowledge of administrative support and record-keeping techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment. Work requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, repetitive motion and vision to monitor.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years administrative support experience. Must be able to possess an IVP Fingerprint Clearance card. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
